
Do you know a municipality that is setting the example for how cities should be handling recycling and waste? A city that's creative, innovative and
getting real results in making the planet a better place? Make sure that town gets the recognition it deserves by nominating it for Waste & Recycling News'
Green City Award.
Judging will focus on how well a community communicates, promotes and markets its recycling program.
The Green City Award is given by Waste & Recycling News to municipalities that are doing extraordinary things to reduce waste and boost recycling. You can
nominate any community that you believe is making a difference.
The awards are broken down into three categories based on the size of the community. One award will be given to each:
- Small communities: (100,000 or fewer residents)
- Medium sized: (100,001 to 500,000 residents)
- Big cities: (500,000 or more residents)

Judges will look at not only a municipality's recycling program and its statistics but how well that community promotes and communicates its program to its
residents. Nominations can include specific examples such as brochures, web pages, or other promotional material. You can submit a web address where the
judges can view them, or email the materials directly to
rlubinski@crain.com.

The winning community in each category will receive a beautiful plaque. More important, the wining municipality will carry the distinguished label of
"Green City."
Cities must be nominated by Feb. 24, 2012.
Finalists will be announced in March 2012. The winning cities will be honored at the Residential Recycling Conference in Dallas March 30 and featured in
the April 2 edition of Waste & Recycling News.
